Sunday, August 30th, 50.3 miles and 3623 accumulated vertical feet up.
The day started on a great note. Scott explained to our waitress at Colter Bay what we were up to. Then came the 2nd breakfast explanation. So the waitress (all 3 of us ordered the breakfast buffet) told Scott to go through the buffet and make your 2nd breakfast and she brought us foil to wrap a 2nd breakfast from the breakfast buffet, she was awesome! We waited out the rain in Colter Bay restaurant till around 9 to leave,
Scolding ACA Again: the north end of Brooks Lake Road (just off 26) is in terrible condition. It would be dangerous even if dry. It’s very deeply rutted.
A very nice couple on bikes stopped to talk to us at 2nd breakfast, they live in Jackson & ride to Tarpin Meadow Ranch for lunch on Sundays. They have a Winter home in Phoenix…There is a really great guy from Wyoming camping next to us in a RV tonight. He is allowing us to use his Starlink, we talked to him about our route, and he was knowledgeable about some of our route because he Elk Hunts in areas near the route. A few pics:

Monday, August 31st, 39 miles and 3830 accumulated vertical feet up.
We are Wild Camping tonight on the South Fork of Fish Creek Near Union Pass in Wyoming. Mile marker 88 on the US section 3 map. Tonight we are camping at 8907 feet above sea level. This is higher than we have camped before and higher than we wanted to camp.
We talked to a north bounder Rick C., who is a yearly section (riding from South Pass WY to Lima Montana this year) rider who is also a Warm Showers host on the south side of Indiana Pass down in Colorado, so that may help us a lot. He also told us that he met South Bounders Barb & Ken in Pinedale. They are from Seattle and we met them in Basin Montana (he got sick at the Llama Ranch).
I need to come clean in this report — I struggled this morning, it was so cold that our water bottles contained slushy instead of water, there was ice crystals on our tents, my left hand with its nerve problems was very much useless. After we packed up, we found an empty campsite in the full morning sun and waited there until we felt comfortable leaving. By 9 everything returned to normal. Going back to coming clean…. I struggled with first half of the day, felt weak, I was slow and struggling to keep my breath, after lunch we had a huge climb so Scott and John decided to send me ahead so I wouldn’t be holding them up like this morning, I Wolfed down my lunch, ate an entire bag of Scratch energy gummies and pounded that climb, my head cleared about halfway up and I felt fine at the end but!!! This was a really hard day because of climbing 3800 feet and starting at such a high elevation. The morning climb topped out at around 9500 feet and then the afternoon climb topped out around 9600 feet.
